North Neighbourhood Police Update
Briefing from Inspector Aaron Barnes:
The Vauxhall BID team have had a series of good results dealing with crime in the night time economy. This has included 4 arrests in the past month of people who have breached their Community Protection Notices. One of these was also wanted for a violent robbery and possession with intent to supply. The team are looking to apply for Criminal Behaviour Orders through the courts against those persistent offenders who keep returning to the area. On the 7th November they arrested a man for drink-driving, criminal damage, possession of Class A drugs and being concerned in the supply of Class B drugs. During the course of a busy shift they ended up travelling to locations across Greater London in order to secure the necessary evidence.
The Prince’s Ward team executed a Misuse of Drugs Act warrant at an address in Lambeth Walk SE11 supported by officers from Larkhall and Vassall. A man was arrested for possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs which were stored in a variety of domestic locations across the property.
Finally, after nearly two years of work, a complicated drugs case finished recently with the sentencing of the offenders at Inner London Crown Court. Although the suspects largely reside elsewhere, this was a job run by the North Cluster Problem Solving Team and gives an idea of the complexity of some of the work that your ward officers have undertaken. This unit was disbanded in 2017 but most of the officers involved are now North DWOs or on the North BID teams. This link will take you to the official MPS press release.
