Chow down and turn up for the British Kebab Awards
The 6th British Kebab Awards will be held on Monday 12th March 2018 at the Westminster Park Plaza Hotel.
Sponsored by Just Eat and other major companies including Cobra, the awards and dinner promise to be a packed event.
Last year’s ceremony attracted around 1,200 people including prominent politicians such as Andrew Percy MP and Barry Gardiner MP, as well as members of the press including BBC News, Channel 4, The Financial Times and the Daily Telegraph. With the dress code calling for lounge suits and cocktail dresses, diners might want to go easy on the chilli sauce.
A range of awards will be handed out on the night including regional awards for the best kebab and restaurant and takeaway, kebab van of the year, and chef of the year. Voting remains open until 22nd January and shortlists for each category will be announced on 1st February.
Speaking at last year’s awards, founder Ibrahim Dogus highlighted the £2.8 billion British kebab businesses contribute to government coffers.
“But we make more than a purely economic contribution,” Mr. Dogus said. “The kebab industry is at the heart of virtually every community in Britain. When many places have shut late at night, there is a light that never goes out for those seeking hot and filling food. For millions a kebab is the perfect end to a night out. The kebab van or takeaway is a place of refuge, reward and reassurance.”
Those taking refuge at the British Kebab Awards can be assured they will not go home hungry.
